My Family's Scone Recipe

[twitter]My dad used to wake up early on weekends and make us all muffins or scones. Actually, he still does. When I head home for a visit, it’s usually the smell of something warm from the oven that wakes me up.

A few years ago, I had my grandmother share her recipe secrets with me. I put them in a book and gave it to family members for Christmas in 2007. I’m so glad I did. She passed away in 2010 and now, whenever I miss her, I can make her cherry cake, her chocolate chip cookies, her scones.

This morning, I picked up on my dad’s habit and baked for my family. Of course, I made my grandmother’s scones for breakfast. The recipe is simple and classic.
