I have played just three rounds in the past 3 years, a far cry from the nearly 40 I was playing just 6 years ago. Family and budget have eaten into my early morning “walks.” Ever since moving to Calgary, however, I have driven past the first 4 holes of a golf course that has been calling to me – today I answered.
Shaganappi Point Golf Course is a municipal range in Calgary with two courses: a full 18 holes measuring a short par 68 and another 9 hole course. It’s $40 to get up with the birds on a Wednesday morning and it was worth it.
Call 403-221-3510 to book a round, or get set up with a City of Calgary parks and rec account and book online.
I made 5 pars, shot bogey for my round and broke a sweat walking up and down over the ridges. I nearly drove the green on a par 4 and rimmed out a few birdie putts, but that didn’t matter because the birds were singing.
