Things To Do In The Columbia Valley

[twitter]You can escape Calgary in every direction, and in every direction Calgarians have found a place to plop a cabin by a lake and relax. The west, however, is the most popular direction people choose. It has mountains, it has lakes, it has trees, it is BC.

The Columbia Valley is barely more than 2 and a half hours from the west edge of Calgary (quicker or longer depending on the lead in your foot), and is covered in red and white license plates. This place, like many BC towns within a day’s drive of Calgary, are playgrounds for Albertans.

Radium, Invermere, Windermere, Panorama, and Fairmont Hot Springs are home bases in a wide valley that is home to a rich wetland. The mountains are there for hiking, biking, and skiing. The lakes are there for boating, swimming, and playing. Golf courses fill the gaps in between and all is right for the perfect vacation.

There are many things to do in the Columbia Valley in the summer, here’s a list of the things we’ve tackled and tried out:

Golf at Copper Point Golf Course
Stay at Copper Point Resort
Camp at Redstreak in Radium Hot Springs
Swim at Radium Hot Springs
Eat at Peppi’s Italian Fuel
Hike and Play at Panorama Village
