Age Appropriate: this hike is stroller friendly making it great for all ages

It doesn’t matter the season, Troll Falls is the best hike for young kids near Calgary. It’s is close to the city, the hike short, the terrain is easy, there are a couple of different ways to get from A to B, and there are things to see along the way.

Even in the winter, the Troll Falls trail is snowshoe, sled, cross-country ski, or boot friendly. When you get to the end there is a fabulous reward, the waterfall is frozen.

Bring along your geocaching tools, there’s a bridge halfway that holds a cache, and who knows – maybe trolls? The frozen waterfall is a fantastic site. You can climb up and peek behind and still hear the water rushing down Troll Falls underneath its frozen shield.

To get to the Troll Falls trail head, head out to Kananaskis Country and follow the signs to Naksiska. Just after the turn to Kananaskis Village, you will see a sign for the Stoney Trails. Park there and head into the woods to grab the trail.
