San Francisco has a hilly reputation, and there are plenty of hills if you want to punish yourself for a run in San Francisco, but it’s also just as easy to get out and get a nice flat run in with some wonderful views.
If you’re near Union Square, get on Market or Mission and head down to the Embarcadero. If you’re near Fishmeran’s Warf, get to the Embarcadero. Run til you’re tired, turn around and come back. It’s as simple as that. Out and back routes are easy to find.
From The Park Central Hotel at 3rd and Market, down to the Embarcadero, over to AT&T Park, and back, was 6 km. A nice early morning run along the waterfront as the mist drifted around the Bay Bridge.
the public art gave your mind to wander
and the run was just perfect.
If you’re up for a long run and you can go head west from Fisherman’s Wharf through Crissy Field and up to the Golden Gate Bridge, over it and back. If you’re in Haight-Ashbury, do Golden Gate Park.
