The Capilano Suspension Bridge is one of Vancouver’s top tourist sites. Buses will do a circuit taking visitors through Stanley Park, over the Lion’s Gate Bridge, and up Capilano Rd stopping at the bridge before scurrying on to Grouse Mountain.
It makes for a very convenient tourist loop, but it’s not the only game in town. The Capilano Suspension Bridge in North Vancouver is spectacular in its height, and there are many other add-ons (like a canopy walk) around the park that make it worth while, but if you decide to not step on the bus, and make your way east, you can get similar views – for free.
The other suspension bridge in North Vancouver is at the foot of the Second Narrows Bridge in Lynn Canyon. Here, you can find the same old growth forests, dozens of kilometres of hiking and cycling trails, and a suspension bridge. There’s no admission fee into the Lynn Headwaters regional park.
And if you want a mountaintop view at the end of the day, take the twisting road to the top of Mount Seymour for a peek from that peak.
